The summer transfer window is growing ever closer on the horizon for many of the biggest players in European football and as such clubs across the continent are already making plans for the summer window.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. A plethora of players will become available in the summer where clubs famously have more money to spend and aren’t as restricted by financial fair play rules. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.
Today’s biggest transfer stories
Kevin de Bruyne will leave Manchester City at the end of the season and could end up at one of the club’s main domestic rivals. According to reports in Italy, Napoli’s hopes of signing the Belgian international could be ruined due to the fact that he already has an offer from none other than Liverpool. However, local reporter Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo has dismissed the claims, saying the Reds “have not made an offer” for the midfielder. The brutal truth is that there is a reason why City haven’t extended his stay, though, with more injuries creeping in and his best days behind him.
De Bruyne has started fewer than half of his side’s league games this season – 17 out of 35 – so signing him on huge wages would be a big risk.
There are younger, less injury-prone midfield options out there, such as the recently-linked Morgan Rogers, so Richard Hughes and Arne Slot should be going down that route instead.
Following Arsenal’s defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night, the club are reportedly determined to add firepower to their ranks for next season. One such player that was quickly linked with a move to Mikel Arteta’s side was highly sought-after striker Liam Delap with current market value of€35 mln. who is expected to depart Ipswich this summer.
Despite claiming their spot in the final of the Champions League just a few days ago, Inter may be forced to say goodbye to manager Simone Inzaghi in the next few weeks. Reports have suggested that Saudi club Al-Hilal have madean offer for the manager. And should he turn down the Gulf club, their second choice is none other than Fulham miracle-worker Marco Silva.
